The final team to make the semi-finals was Juventus of Italy who overcame a resiliant and determined AS Monaco of France 1-0 on aggregate.
The draw was held in Nyon, Switzerland starting from 11pm, Nigerian time.
The matches will be played in this manner: Semi-final first legs: 5/6 May; Second legs: 12/13 May
The Europa League draws:
Ex-players and managers from the eight teams playing in Europe’s premier competitions have commented on the draws.
Juventus legend Pavel Nedvěd said; “We are very happy to be in a semi-final after 12 years. It’s going to be very exciting.”
Paul Breitner, the Bayern legend and ambassador:
“It will be very tough to reach the final. We will have to be at full strength in both matches to beat Barcelona.”
Emilio Butragueño, the Madrid director, said on facing Juventus:
“It will be a very tough semi. Congratulations to Juventus and it will be an honour for Madrid as well. If we get some players back from injury it will be better but it will be a tough semi-final nevertheless.”
Josep María Bartomeu, Barcelona’s president, said:
“We’ll see what happens. We know Guardiola well, he is a Barça man and he has coached here. We’ll get who we get. The four sides in the semis are there because they deserve to be there.”
